Collaborative Wellbeing Support & Practical Self-Harm Resources

At My White Dog, we are committed to providing professional, evidence-based training and positive intervention approaches that build safer, more supportive environments for individuals, families and communities. Our training programmes are designed to empower, educate and equip people with the confidence, skills and understanding needed to respond compassionately and appropriately to mental health challenges, especially for young people.

As part of this mission, we actively collaborate with trusted specialists who share our values around safety, early intervention and person-centred care. With this in mind, we are pleased to highlight practical self-harm support and distraction-based resource kits created by Sally Panks, the Founder of S&L Self-Harm Distraction Kits, developed specifically for adults supporting young people.

About the Distraction Kits

Developed with compassion, insight and trauma-informed practice, the kits include:

  • sensory and grounding tools
  • emotional regulation ideas
  • safe alternatives to harmful coping
  • supportive conversation guidance
  • printable resources and activity prompts

They are intended for parents, teachers, carers, and youth professionals as part of a safer-coping and harm-reduction approach.

How This Complements Training at My White Dog

Our mental health and positive intervention programmes help adults to:

✔ recognise emotional distress and early warning signs
✔ respond using supportive, non-judgemental communication
✔ understand trauma-sensitive, person-centred approaches
✔ take practical action with confidence
✔ work preventatively and collaboratively

The distraction kits offer practical tools that pair seamlessly with our training knowledge, ensuring adults are not only informed but equipped with real-life strategies they can apply straight away.
